I Can Be....

I got home and getting kids into bed and getting them fed and all that jazz I wasn't paying much attention to what Molly was doing. She loves to color and draw and all that stuff so when I saw her at the table I thought she was coloring. So after the girls were in bed I looked at what she was working on. Why is it that this makes me cry! She did this all by her self. I'm so inspired by her and her sweet words. I hope as she gets older she still believes this... I'm planning on getting some nice paper and then having her write it in marker and framing it and putting it on her wall so she will always believe this!

it says....
What am I?
I do not know what I want to be.
I could be a nurse.
I could be a artist.
I could be in the Olympics.
I could be a working a movie theater.
I can be anything I want to be.
I could be my self.
I could be a movie star.
I could be a mom.
I could be a clothes designer.
I could be a performer.
I could be a police.
I could be anything I want to be right now I am just a little girl that is an artist.
I love to paint.
I love my family so much.

Homework.

Sweet Molly came home with this paper she had written today in school.
The night before school started we were saying family prayers and Molly started to cry and wipe the tears from her eyes. I have to be honest this is when I got a little teary. After the prayer I asked what was wrong. She said...
"I don't know why my eyes keep watering. I'm just a little nervous."
Oh my heart. I was nervous for her would she be ok ALL day long? Would she get tired and ornery? Would she figure out lunch? Would she b eable to find me after school in the sea of kids? Would she have friends in her class?
So when she brought this home I thought of that day. All thoughts come fluding back.

"I have been in 1st grade for two weeks. I was nervous the night I was nervous and the next day I was excited! I love lunch and I would miss my mom."

Nicole's Classes

OK people.... I have been meaning to post this for a long time! Today I just happen to have a few min without kids. Kris has taken them swimming. Hooray for an awesome husband! The reason I have been putting this post off was because I wanted to show you a few projects that need finishing and I wanted to wait until they were out. I know I haven't posted about the girls birthday party but I have to show you the invitation I made....
This is the invitation for the girls party we did for our families. It was an accordion fold and honestly I couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out!

This was the front
This was on the back.

I also put together some posters for an ice cream social we have coming up...

So in no way am I an expert and I have a lot of practicing to do and more skills to develop but I'm loving the art of design! So here is where this all comes together. I have taken a few classed from the best teachers ever over at Nicole's Classes. So I have taken illustrator classes from Alma, (that is what I have used to put all of these together) love her totally want to be friends! The whole team at Nicole's classes are awesome! The best part is that it's on line you can take the classes as you want and need. The instructors are always so good to get back to you. AWESOME! Alma's husband Mike also has awesome photo shop classes. I have taken one form him and can't wait to take his Photo Workflow and Alma's pretty paper products. and my list could go on and on with the classes I want to take from Nicole's classes, but these are the 2 I will be starting with!
One of my final projects I did for my illustrator class was an Italian soda poster. I started a new tradition at Christmas time and loved this as a party time drink so I though it would mesh perfectly with my last assignment and I had an Easter party coming up. It turned out ok but Alma made some suggestion and did some tweaking and it turned out AMAZING!!!!! You can check it out here as well as download a free copy for yourself...
Like I said... LOVE THEM and can't wait to take more of their classes!

Friday Foto Dump!

So I was blog surfing the other day and one thing led to another and I ended up on this random lady's blog and saw the cutest thing... She did what she called a "Friday Foto Dump" She would dump all the photos from the past week from off her phone to her blog. I have been so bad lately about blogging and hate that because this is what I use for all our family history and all of our scrapbooks... This is it! I need to be more on the ball. So with school starting and life getting into a more structured state I thought I would try this out, so here is my
First "FRIDAY FOTO DUMP"!

Molly made the whole family breakfast last Friday morning! It was so cute! Eggo's for everyone and she even set out a DC for me. She also pulled out a Mt. Dew for Kris, but said "Oh dad likes to drink his out of a cup, I'll get him cup!" She is really growing up and can be so thoughtful. She is such a great help to me and she is only 6! Love her so much!

My wonderful neighbor showed up with a gift for my girls! I was feeding Nora and the darling clip that they used on the bow was perfect to keep her crazy hair out of her face! She was playing peek a boo with me! She is really understanding so much and is so much fun to play with! She will tickle herself and say.. "tickle tickle tickle" her little tongue sticks is so cute when she says it! Those are truly moments I never want to forget!

 Bath time! Nora's favorite time

Molly has this long maxi skirt I got her on sale! They didn't have one in Stella's size and I just figured that Stella would get it a few years. Well she comes out in that skirt every morning and then there is a big squabble about this dumb skirt. Finally one day I told Stella I could make her one. I had stuff and I would make her a long skirt. The deal was made that I would get in and do it as soon as the house was clean. That was proving to be a difficult thing for us at the time. Well I feel like this little girl has so much energy and personality that she finds herself in trouble A LOT! I know she has needed some love and I felt this was just the thing. Long story short I put a whole in the skirt so she had to wait a whole week more. So I finished it at like 11:30 pm on sat night and put this little outfit on her bed in her room with a little note. She couldn't have been more excited! She woke me up at about 6:15 sunday morning asking if I could help her get her pajama tops off so she could get dressed. She was one happy girl. I know things don't show love or bring happiness, but I know she felt loved and I feel more love for her making that just for her!

I have loved this Olympics! There are so many inspiring stories (as always) but I feel like these men and women make a little stay at home moms in SLC feel like I can do anything and I can inspire my kids to do anything.

Last of all... We have been planning on come to lake Powell for months. But at the last min I found out that the person before us weren't going so I decided to pack up and head out with the girls. Kris will meet up with us latter when he is able to get away form work. The girls did so great on the 7 hour drive! They really were troopers!  Love these little girls!

Now to get all of that stuff down to the boat with 3 little girls????? It was no small task I'm telling you! It took us 3 trips! 110 degrees! We were all really hot, dehydrated and tired! But we did it!

Bath time! Perfect way to end a really hot day!

Wow! This kid wasn't going to sleep! I'll tell you what. There are some days I don't think I will ever survive, but she is truly the life of any party and I would not trade her in for anything!

Nap time for Nora! Movie time for the girls. book, sun and r&r for me! Love this place!

Poor kid was to tired she feel asleep in the Walmart cart! Now she won't sleep tonight.

Girls are all in bed, I watched a movie, finished my book, picked up and did the dishes! If only I were this productive at home! Lake Powell magic!

Oh this beauty! Last night after Nora woke us all up at 4:30 I put Stella in bed with me for fear of wandering! She kicked me the rest of the night. My poor kidneys and ovaries!

My little fishes enjoying the refreshing water on a really hot day!

Nora's nap time! Girls movie time! Sun time, r&r, and another great book for me!

A lunch time story! Once there was a lady that tied her baby to a chair for all of the meals because when she got to the houseboat there were several mouse traps out and nothing in them (I think she would have been more freaked out if there was something in them). Any way she was to chicken to climb in the crawl space (where the light had burned out and there was not a flashlight in sight, other wise she would have gone down) to pull out the high chair... So she just tied the baby to the chair! The baby didn't mind!
Nora was pulling the funnest faces! She had us all laughing so hard! Such a funny little girl. She has quite the sense of humor!

A quiet night on the lake. So clam and peaceful. The dark clouds. Molly and Stella are in bed and time for me to hang out with my little Nora for a bit!  Amazing! I really do love it here. The girls have been so good! It's been one great trip!

And there is my first "Friday Foto Dump"!

Birthday Girl!

My sweet baby Nora turned one! Stella had gotten up at 2:30 and woke up Nora and we had a hard time getting her back down for the night. Kris rocked her and then I got up with her at 3am and spent the next hour rocking her. I couldn't help but think as I looked at this sweet baby that one year ago at this exact time I was holding my little miracle. I can't ever forget that moment. 2:26 am 6/16 We got to hold our Nora in our arms. As much as I hate getting up at night and hadn't gotten to bed before 1:30 I couldn't help but be grateful for that opportunity. What a blessing to hold, rock and cuddle with my baby on her birthday. It kind of reminded me of that book... "I'll Love You Forever." Way cheese I know! Due to the late night she slept in until 10. She still looked a little sleepy when we woke her up for her party. She wasn't sure how she felt about her birthday crown! Happy birthday Nora!
We love you!
xoxo

Baby Cake Birthday Set Up!

My sweet baby Nora turned 1! And honestly I'm so sad. I just want to cry. This baby is so sweet and part of my knows that this is going so fast! My arms are feeling more empty as she wants to be down and independent. She has her own ideas of what she wants and how to get it. This is going so fast... to fast for my own liking. I love and will miss this baby stage....

Anyway, for her birthday I wanted to do something that she likes... She loves pancakes (totally gets that from her daddy.) Loves Cheerio's and so I came up with "baby cake birthday"! I did mini pancakes, syrup (in mini syrup bottles) big muffins (as big as a mini cake) "Bottle" of milk (well chocolate milk, and I should add that Nora couldn't get enough of it! I had some other plans for the day, but didn't quite work out the way I had hoped for her big first birthday. I have more photos coming of her on her big day, but for now here is the set up...

Swimming...

We have done a lot of swimming already this summer. It's so fun to watch these girls in the pool. Stella's favorite thing to do is dive to the deepest part of the pool and get rings or goggles that have been left on the bottom of the pool. It's so fun to watch and totally terrifying at the same time. Stella can hold her breath forever. She will jump off the diving board and then swim along the bottom of the pool to the shallow part (well shallower part 5 ft) of the pool to take her first breath. I think she freaks out all of the adults every time she does it. They have both become really great swimmers and it's so much fun to watch them swim. Nora loves the water as much as the other girls do.
